Brent Council is working in partnership with a charity and a not-for-profit company to help residents make their homes more energy efficient and bring down the cost of fuel bills.

The council has an agreement with Energy Solutions and London Warm Zone
(LWZ) for work such as new central heating systems and wall insulation at discounted rates.

LWZ offers grants for boiler repairs, new central heating systems and installing loft and cavity wall insulation to all homeowners and private tenants Brent. Its assessors will visit residents’ homes to give a free assessment and see how energy efficiency can be improved.

Homeowners and tenants of private-rented homes with any income could receive up to 75 per cent off the cost of installing loft and cavity wall insulation.

Residents who claim income or disability-related benefits, or who are aged 70 or over, could have heating or insulation work carried out for free.

So far in Brent 409 properties have received a grant for thermal improvements such as heating, insulation upgrades, and energy efficient light bulbs.

Martin Cheeseman, Brent Council’s director of Housing and Community Care said: “This is a great opportunity for people to make improvements to their homes. Cavity wall insulation is one of the most energy efficient home improvements you can make and can cut fuel bills by up to 30 per cent.”
