Government needs to help with energy savings!!

Energy saving techniques such as insulating lofts and cavity walls need to be deployed to help people cope with the rising cost of fuel, a Suffolk MP has said.

Suffolk Coastal MP John Gummer called for a new approach to finding energy and pointed out that part of the long term solution was to help people become more energy efficient.

Speaking to the Evening Star he voiced his frustration that the government had not responded sooner to the decreasing supply of fossil fuels and rising costs.

He suggested the use of renewable energy, though also advocated nuclear energy to help meet the demand, despite research demonstrating that renewable energy alone could meet the “capacity gap” until 2020.

Mr Gummer added: “We also need to help people individually with what they can do to insulate and reduce their energy needs.

“I have been campaigning for a long time about the fact energy prices were going to go up and there is nothing you can do about it because there are a lot more people in the world demanding energy and energy resources are much more limited.”
